Derived from one of our fever dreams of design, this apple-shaped Black Walnut lidded bowl emerged as a creative solution to the desire for a lidded bowl with a handle but without having to apply a handle later. A unique twist on traditional design, the lid features an integrated handle in the shape of an apple, sparking inspiration for several variations of this popular piece. Due to its curvy shape, we felt it to be a bit of a “bubba” and the name has stuck to this day.

Another favorite of ours, this Black Walnut plater struck a nerve while creating it. Once we were done turning it, all we could think of was a “Saturday Night Live” skit in which Adam Sandler and Dana Carvey portrayed waiters aggressively asking patrons if they would like “more peppar”. As a result, the name stuck to this piece, and it never fails to bring a chuckle every time we recall its quirky origin.

If I were asked to choose my favorite piece out of all the creations we've crafted over the years, one that stands out is this enchanting little vessel. The graceful curve of its sides and the delicate yet defined edge of its top, seamlessly flowing into the interior, truly captivates me. Every detail of this piece resonates with me, making it a cherished creation. I truly considered keeping this piece for my private collection. We’re not sure where or how we came by calling it the Meredith Vessel, but it just seemed fitting for this piece.

Something about the final shape, the subtle beads around the rim, or the flow and rich coloring of the grain just speak to us on another level. Then again, maybe it’s the slight pickle odor emanating from the wood as we turned it.

Whoopsie Doodles
A lovely little bowl with a surprise in Bocote

This small handmade bowl was crafted for our online store. While being turned, a slight mishap resulted in the bottom being thinned excessively, leading to a small hole. To remedy this flaw, the bottom was carefully filled with Epoxy and meticulously restored. Eventually, it found its way to a delighted collector through our online platform, now charming its new owner as an endearing and resilient surprise filled bowl.

This lovely bowl was produced for our online shop. Created from a small billet of American Cherry, utilizing a more traditional shape. This piece reflects a touch of sap wood that will remain lighter in color as the cherry ages to its characteristic dark red coloring. Streaked with a number of larger “gum spots” this piece is truly unique in its design and natural characteristics.

Produced from a salvaged veneer log of Claro Walnut burl, this piece is amazing from every angle. The burl figuring, intertwined with the striking grain of the Claro Walnut has made this a special one of a kind piece. Several large checks had to be filled with epoxy to stabilize the billet before turning, adding to the allure and character of final piece.
